Currently employed in a senior management position with an Austrian ‘oil & gas’ multi-national.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE                                                                                    

OMV (Pakistan) Exploration & Production GmbH                                 April 2012 – present
Field Manager

Presently working as Field Manager at Sawan Central Plant Gas Processing facility, getting 200 MMscfd gas from 15 wells with front end compression at the plant inlet. Also leading the plant team for the “Latif field development project” to be completed by Oct 2013, supplying additional 150 MMscfd gas to Sawan facility. This project consists of 07 wells , wellhead facilities with fiber optic cable communication to plant, wellhead compressors & 45 km of 16” pipeline.


OMV (Yemen) Exploration & Production GmbH                                       Oct 2007 – Mar 2012
Field Manager

Managed operation of oil wells & temporary production facilities to process 20,000 bbl/day of crude oil & its transportation in oil tankers to a processing plant. Continuous drilling with 03 Rigs & 01 workover Rig. About 43 wells drilling is planned till end of 2012. By that time a central processing facility of 30,000 bbl/day & a 120 km 16’’ pipeline will be commissioned.

Responsibilities include:
  • Hiring of national & expat staff – over 100 personnel
  • Liaison with technical & project team on engineering & design of the new facility
  • Setting up the field operations which includes residential camp & production facility
  • Development & implementation of complete field management system which includes ‘Data Stream’ ( procurement, management, finance modules), health safety & environmental system & procedures, production/maintenance set-up etc
  • Training of production & maintenance staff.
Special assignment Oct 2010 -April 2012, working as Training & Development Manager. Development of technical human resource, of national employees, with 02 objectives (a) to complete 90% Yemenisation (b) have sufficient national manpower in all exploration & production fields with expanding business & more exploration/production blocks being acquired by the company. To achieve the above objectives following human resource development initiatives have been put into place:
  • Annual training plans being developed for all employees to be in aligned with business needs & personnel development.
  • Graduate Development Programs – Hiring of fresh engineering & geosciences graduates for a 3 years fast track special development programs with class room studies in Vienna, on the job training with mentoring & coaching in Yemen.
  • Scholarship program – selecting nationals for graduate & master programs studies at various technical universities in Germany. Contract with students to work with OMV.
  • Apprenticeship program – 02 years trainings for operators & technicians with a reputable fertilizer company having a state of art technical training center.

Field Manager

Managing the operation of gas wells, flow-lines and a two-train gas purification plant as Field Manager at Kadanwari. Administer production, maintenance, logistics, HSE & community departments with a total strength of 160 personnel. Regular liaison with engineering, project, purchasing, information technology and human resources.

Responsibilities included:
  • Lead field operations to ensure that employee morale and motivation is kept high to enhance productivity and maintain OMV position as an employer of choice.
  • Ensure implementation of company’s policies & procedures to streamline operations and alignment.
  • Ensure responsibility associated with the role of ‘Manager of Mines’ is successfully discharged in compliance with government of Pakistan laws and regulations.
  • Implement HSE management system to ensure safety of personnel / assets, protection of environment / company reputation & meet targets set by management.
  • Ensure production targets and contractual requirements to the customer (SSGCL) are met on sustained basis to earn reputation of a reliable supplier.
  • Monitor & control field annual budget to ensure expenditure is in line with business plan.
  • Manage employee training and career development program to have a competent workforce run field operation.
  • Facilitate development of a ‘culture of operational excellence’ to achieve continuous improvement, long term facility integrity and optimum resource utilization.
  • Maintain good relationship with local community to minimize risk of disruption to company operations & assist in local development to leave OMV footprint in concession area.
  • Involved in commissioning activities after plant modification & debottlenecking in 2002.
  • Led the field activities in studies, design inputs & implementation of capacity enhancement project in 2004.
  • Involved in Operational Safety Case – first of its kind in Pakistan.





ICI Pakistan Ltd, PTA Plant, Port Qasim, Karachi,                                                        Jan 1996 – Aug 2002
Plant Manager – Utilities Plant
  • Worked as Plant Manager at the Utilities plant of the PTA Complex. This included two HP steam boilers operating at 100 bars, plant condensate network, 03 diesel generators with combine capacity of 5.5 MW. Raw water/filtration, 03 nos. Demineralized water trains including Mixed beds of 110 m3/hr capacity each, all operated through PLC. Cooling tower with circulation capacity of 12000 m3/hr. Instrument Air compressors. Chemical off loading stations and storage facilities for paraxylene, acetic acid, caustic soda, HCL, H2SO4, diesel oil, furnace oil. Effluent treatment plant treating plant organic waste. The treatment employs biological reactor/Deep shaft technology treating 175 m3/hr of waste. All the utilities plant operations are controlled through the DCS operation. The Utilities Plant also includes 50 km long Raw water pipeline with a dedicated pumping station control through PLC.
  • Took part in the initial hiring of shift managers, supervisors, DCS operators & plant operators. Carry out the staff training.
      Was responsible for the whole pre-commissioning & commissioning / start-up of the Utilities plant.         
  • Under went necessary training for the PTA technology for 04 months at PTA Plants in U.K. and Taiwan.

Saudi Arabian Fertilizer Co, Jubail, Saudi Arabia.                                                 Sept 1992 – Jan 1996
Senior Coordination Engineer – Operations
  • Senior coordination engineer responsible for smooth operation of Ammonia, Urea & Utilities plants. To coordinate Urea & Ammonia dispatches to port side for ship loading.
  • Was responsible for initial commissioning & start-up of Utilities section. It included 250 m3/hr Demin plant, three 100 t/hr HP steam boilers, nitrogen, air, sea cooling water system etc.
  • Took part in the commissioning/start-up of 1500 te/day Ammonia plant by Haldor Topsoe and 1800 te/day Urea plant by Stami carbon with Urea Granulation process.
  • Supervise & guided the team of Engineers/Operations staff during the initial start-up.
  • Trouble shooted and deblottle necked the Units operation.
  • Operations coordinator for ISO-9000 Certification preparation.

Shift Engineer / Coordination Engineer / Unit Manager-Utilities
  • Took part in the initial commissioning of the Utilities plant. Worked as shift engineer and later as assistant to the Utilities Unit Manager. The unit included Raw water treatment, filtration, Demin plant, Boiler feed water system, GE Gas turbines with Waste heat boilers, Chromate removal plant, Cooling tower, instrument & nitrogen plants etc.
  • Group incharge Plant operators Training program at the Technical Training Center of FFC.
  • Urea plant shift engineer & plant coordination engineer.
  • Worked as Unit Manager Utilities.
